Thought for the Day

When I saw Ron preparing this slide for our Monday night worship, I had to borrow it to share. It reminds me of my parents who recently had trees in an old orchard removed and are now making plans to plant some hardwoods as their gift to future generations.

Thought for the day....

A society grows great when old men plant trees
whose shade they know they shall never sit in.

It reminds me of Jeremiah who purchased a vineyard the fruit of which he would never eat. Faith in and provision for future generations is an act of love!

Let us keep an awareness that there are animal and plant species that can exist only in and on old growth. There are stands of forest that need to be left to mature past their prime productive years and allowed to follow a complete cycle of natural replenishment.Sometimesw our yearning for newness and high yield cause us to contribute to species extinction. A noble motive can, nevertheless, promote the selfish misuse of resources and lead to less bio-diversity. Humanity is diminished with the loss of each species. A projection of 1000 years into the future seems like a long term plan, but 1000 years in God's plan is a mere twinkling.
