The Value of Child Care

We are blessed at First UMC with the quaility of our Child Development Ministry. Many factors come together to create an excellent nurturning center for preschool and afterschool children. However, my personal opinion is that the director, Jeanne Voltz Loomis, is the key player in making it all happen. This morning I was most pleased to see her thoughts about the value of child care expressed in the Sun-News. What do you think?

The following quote from Ms. JVL sums it up well. We all owe Ms. Jeanne and the entire CDM staff our confidence and our thanks.

What teachers of young children do is no less than partner with parents to provide responsive, nurturing relationships in environments that are structured for the developmental level and age of the child; providing opportunities for learning through play and explorations that help the child to the next developmental level.

Thank you Tom and Jean! The cliche that it takes a village is not a cliche at all, and we are blessed at CDM to have a village of nurturing and talented teachers, involved and caring parents, precious and amazing children, and a church family and staff that believe in and support what we do. It is a blessing to me to do what I love in such an atmosphere! Jeanne

My only regret is that all who read Jeanne's letter could not hear the spoken version as I did and hear the passion and sincerity and dedication that accompanied her words. Thank you, Jeanne, for who you are and what you do and how effectively you do it. There are so many children who will grow up bearing your imprint.
